Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about working with us.

What is CNC routing?
CNC routing is computer-controlled cutting and carving. Where a table saw cuts straight lines, a CNC brings to life artistic, organic shapes you can't get from typical woodworking — and it does it repeatably. We can cut the same design over and over with precision, making it ideal for both one-off art pieces and production runs of thousands.
What materials do you work with?
Wood is about 90% of what we do — Baltic Birch plywood is our go-to. We also work with HDPE plastic, acrylic, foam, composite, PVC, and aluminum. For laser engraving, we can mark wood, plastic, metal, stone, glass, leather, and coated materials like water bottles.
Do you work with metal?
We can do aluminum, but we don't work with ferrous metals like steel or iron. If you need steel fabrication or welding, that's not us — but we're happy to refer you to someone who can help.
How big of a piece can you cut?
Our larger CNC machine handles full sheets up to 5' × 10' and material up to about 10" thick. Our shop CNC does 4' × 4' with up to 5" thickness. For laser work, our cutting surface is 12" × 24", and we have access to a larger 4' × 8' laser when needed.
Do I need to have design files ready?
Not at all. Most of our customers don't have files. Bring us a sketch, a photo of something similar, or just describe what you need. We offer full design services — we'll draw it up in Fusion 360 and send you images for approval before anything gets cut. If you do have files, we accept DXF, SVG, STL, STEP, OBJ, F3D, AI, and DWG.
How long does a typical project take?
Most projects are completed within 2–3 weeks from approval. We also offer rush service for time-sensitive work — just let us know your deadline when you reach out.
How much does a project cost?
Every project is unique, so pricing depends on materials, machine time, and labor. Personal projects typically run $200–$1,000. Small business work (prototyping, signage, small runs) is usually $1,000–$5,000. Larger commercial projects range from $5,000–$20,000+. We'll always give you an honest quote upfront.
How does payment work?
We ask for 50% upfront to cover materials, with the remaining 50% due on completion. We invoice through QuickBooks.
Do you supply the materials?
About 75% of the time, we supply materials. Baltic Birch plywood and MDF are our most common. You're also welcome to supply your own if you have something specific in mind — just let us know.
Can you do both 2D and 3D work?
Yes. Most of our CNC work is 2D — profile cuts from plywood, signage, custom parts. But we also do 3D carving like concrete sink forms, spiral banisters, decorative cabinet feet, and layered art pieces using our rotary axis.
Do you do finish work (staining, painting, assembly)?
We can, but most customers prefer to finish pieces themselves. We're fully capable of going from concept to completion — design, cut, finish, and even install — but it depends on the project. Just let us know what you need.
Where are you located? Do you ship?
We're based in Lehi, Utah. Most of our work is in Utah Valley and Park City, but we serve all of Utah. We also ship nationwide — we've sent projects to Tennessee, Arizona, and beyond.
What's the best way to contact you?
A phone call is ideal for the first conversation — we can quickly figure out if your project is a good fit. Call us at 801-252-5350, or use the contact form on our website. We'll follow up by email so everything is in writing.
Who are your typical customers?
We work with everyone from individuals with a one-off personal project to businesses needing repeat production runs. Our most common clients are contractors, restaurants, theaters (we've done set pieces for Hale Centre Theatre and The Ruth), climbing gyms, and small businesses needing custom signage or branded items.
